| Jhomolhari Trek 1 | |||||||||||||||||||||
This is a high altitude trek Best seaon : end of March – May and mid September- November Itinerary at a glance :-Day 01 Delhi/Bangkok - Paro. Altitude – 2200meters. Day 02 Paro - Sightseeing in and around Paro, including hike to Tiger’s nest monastery to stretch your legs for next days trek. Day 03 Paro - Shana (17 kms/ 5-6 hrs).Climb to Drugyal Dzong ruins to see the route for next couple of day, then start trekking following the Paro river and through cultivated fields and tiny villages, alive with lots of birds and brightly coloured butterflies, until the camp. at 2800 meters. Day 04 Shana-Soi-Thangthangkha (21 kms/9 hrs). Still following the river in heavily forested country. Isolated farm houses and plenty of wildlife.Max. alt. 3750m. Day 05 Soi-Jangothang base camp (18 kms/ 6-7 hrs). Get up early to photograph the dawn colours on Mt. Chomolhari which is framed at the end of the valley. Leave the tree line behind and enter home of the yak herders at the base of Jhomolhari.Max. alt. 4150m. Day 06 JangothangHalt at Jangothang for acclimatization with excursion to Tshophu lakes or hike towards Jhomolhari and above the Jangothang village towards Jitchudrake. Day 07 Jangothang to Lingshi (19 kms/7-8 hrs). Good day’s walking with spectacular views of several stunning Himalayan peaks as you reach Nyele La (4860m). Coming down to Lingshi, you can obtain your first views of the truly mystical dzong atop its 300m. high hill. Alt. 4100m. Day 08 Lingshi - Shodu (22 kms/10 hrs). Probably the hardest day of the trek crossing the Yalela Pass (4980m) with wonderful views lakes and the peaks of the eastern Himalayas. Alt. 4150 meters. Day 09 Shodu - Barshong(Domshisa)/( 20kms/8hrs). A downhill day as you follow the Thimphu River past the Barshong ruins. Alt. 3250 meters at the camp site. Day 10 Barshong to Dolamkencho/Dodina/Thimphu (26 kms/8 hrs). Short climb to Dolamkencho, then, all the way downhill to Dodina and drive to Thimphu. Alt. 2,300 meters. Day 11 Thimphu - Sightseeing in Thimphu including weekend market and Tashichhodzong secretariate. PM drive to Paro.
