It is a short 5 days trek leading from Paro to Thimphu or vice versa crossing the chain of mountains that separate these two valleys. Although the trek seems short, it still goes as high as 4100meters, making it moderately strenuous. The route is sparsely populated but there are wonderful lakes teeming with fish and the area is famous for its spectacular rhododendrons that bloom in May. In the clear weather of late autumn and winter there is a magnificient view over the high Himalayas. Itinerary at a glance :- Day 01 Delhi/Bangkok - Paro. Alt. 2,200m Day 02 Paro -Paro. Sightseeing in and around Paro including hike to Tiger’s nest. Day 03 Paro - Jeledzong (12kms/4-5 hrs). After visiting the National museum, climb to Jeledzong. Camp below the dzong to avoid strong wind at night. Alt.3000m. Day 04 Jeledzong - Jangchulakha (10 kms/ 5-6 hrs). AM cross Jele La (3490m) The trail leads through thick alpine forests and rhododendrons along a ridge from where Mount Jhomolhari can be seen on clear days. Camp near yak-herder’s camp at Jangchulakha. Alt. 3750 meters. Day 05 J/lakha - Jimilangtsho (11 kms/6hrs).Climb to a saddle at 4000m then along the ridge to Jangchu La(4200m). Vspectacular views from this ridge. Descend to the camp site near the large Jimilangtsheo lake, known for its gaint trout. Sometimes, in the evening you could hear sheer sound of snow leopard and our horsemen will go after his animal, incase, if attacked. Alt. 3800m. Day 06 Jimilangtsho - Simkota/Phajoding (21 kms/8-9 hrs). Day to start early, with gradual climb through dwarf rhododendron trees to lake Janetsho and Simkota , both kown for gaint trout. Ascend till Phume La (4250m) from where views of Bhutan Himalayan peaks including the highest Mt. Gangkhar Punsum are visible on clear days. Camp site near Phajoding monastery founded as early as the 13th century. Alt.3700m. Day 07 Phajoding - Thimphu/Paro. An easy 2 hrs. descend to Thimphu valley, visit few places including weekend market (if Sunday). Late afternoon, drive to Paro. 65 kms/ 1.5 hrs. Day 08 Paro - Delhi/Bangkok Exit.
