|
Bhutan has immense and exciting natural beauty, not yet modified by modernization, that ranges from the lowland sub-tropical lands, to the pastures and mountains of the high Himalayas. The countryside is dotted with secluded villages, monasteries and temples over the rugged landscape that have hardly changed over hundreds of years. Moving across Bhutan from west to east across diverse ecological zones and environments also gives the traveler the superb opportunity to see variety of flora and wildlife in its natural habitat; besides visiting some of Bhutan’s most sacred pilgrimage sites. There is also a particular focus on traditional arts and crafts in such fields as woodcarving, papermaking, weaving and dying of textiles using age-old techniques. The tour starts from Phuntsholing in the south tropical region, moving onwards to Paro valley, through the unique capital city of Thimphu, crossing over to Punakha and through the ancestral home of the royal families, Trongsa, to the cultural heartland of Bhutan, and further to far east, that is home to the actual inhabitants of Bhutan. Itinerary at a glance: - Day 01 Bagdogra/Jaldapara /Sikkim – Phuntsholing. Day 02 Phuntsholing - Paro. AM; visit Zangtopelri and Kharbandi monasteries. Day 03 Paro - Paro Full day in Paro, including visits to Museum, Rimpung Dzong, Kyichu temple, Drugyal dzong ruins and a typical farm house. Day 04 Paro - Taktshang monastery AM hike to Taktshang monastery. Afternoon, drive to Thimphu and visit Tashichhodzong and handicrafts. Day 05 Thimphu – Wangduephordang Full day visits around Thimphu. Late afternoon, drive to Wangduephordang. Day 06 Wangdue - Punakha AM; visit Wangduephordang dzong, thereafter, drive north to Punakha and hike to Khamsum Yuele Namgyal Chorten,. PM visit Punakha Dzong. Day 07 Wangdue - Trongsa AM drive to Gantey Gomba, thereafter, to Trongsa. Day 08 Trongsa - Jakar AM, visit Trongsa dzong and the watchtower, in the afternoon, drive to Jakar. Day 09 Jakar - Jakar. Full day in and around Jakar visiting the most sacred sites of Bhutan. Day 10 Jakar - Ura valley / Mongar AM drive to Ura valley and then across Thrumsingla Pass (3900 meters) to Mongar. En route one can see several waterfalls, thick forests, wild life and many species of birds especially the “Great Hornbills”. Distance = 210 kms. Alt. 1600 meters. Day 11 Mongar - Gom Kora and Trashigang (Radi). In the morning we visit Mongar dzong. Thereafter, drive to Trashigang with a visit to Gom Kora temple in Trashiyantsi district enroute. Over night stay in a guest house in Radi valley. Day 12 Radi - Radi In the morning trek to Tsangkhar village to see women weaving textiles at home and in make shift huts in the field. In the afternoon, visit Ranjung Nyimapa monastery. Day 13 Radi - Samdrupjonkhar AM drive to Kanglung where Bhutan’s only University is located, then to Khaling village and visit a centre for dying and weaving of Bhutanese textiles. Picnic lunch will be served at Womrong next to the beautiful temple. PM drive to Samdrupjonkhar and along this stretch of road, one can see several species of birds, including more than one species of Hornbills, white monkeys and other wild life. Distance = 187 kms/ 8-9 hrs. Alt. 350 meters. Day 14 Samdrupjonkhar - Gauhati. AM group handover to Indian counterpart for onward journey to Gauhati Airport for departure to Delhi by Jet Airways / Indian Airlines OR continue tour of KAZIRANGA WILD LIFE SANCTUARY. Please note :- Exit from Samdrupjonkhar to Assam is still closed to tourism. However, we can approach higher authorities to consider as a special case and obtain a special permit. Therefore, to operate this tour we require minimum 11 pax participating. |
